Frosty Friday Fun

To answer A. on a yarny question. I do have a nice pattern book for Classic Elite Galaxy. It's in a stack of patterns I need to go through sometime today, so I'll grab it and take a picture. There's two patterns I want to knit up out of the booklet and I even have the yarn. No subs necessary!

After seeing a spring questionaire on Knittingkewpie's blog, then looking out of our window...

I decided to jack her list o'questions and answer them myself.

Questionnaire
1. Do you knit or crochet? How long have you been at your craft?
I knit mainly, and crochet only under duress. I've knit since 2000, so yikes! Eight years.

2. What are your favorite yarns/fibers? What are your least favorite yarns/fibers?
I love merino wool, silk and its blends, and cotton. Not so much the Shetland wool or acrylic.

3. What are your favorite colors? What are your least favorite colors? I love all colors. Different colorways appeal to me based on different moods. I don't care for the 70's colors, but have found I like them in certain ways. Knitted, I like, crocheted, eww.

4. What ‘warm weather’ project are you looking forward to making this year?
Socks and lace shawls.

5. What are you favorite scents? Least favorite? I like musk and floral, don't like 'food' smells. Food smells make me starving all the time.

6. What is your favorite flower? All of them. It's like picking your favorite kid. How can I? There are a lot of roses and irises in my garden, though...

7. What are you favorite spring time hobbies/activities? Staring at the night sky is one of my faves. I caught this lunar eclipse the other night with my cell phone camera.

I also like the home and garden shows, even if the ideas tend to put us in debt. ;)

8. Do you have a garden? If you do, tell us a little about it. Do you like to plant flowers or vegetables? I like playing around with my pond. Once it's thawed, of course. I arrange rocks, change the waterfall, fix leaks, and figure out how to put in more irises without squishing them. There's a few herbs, mint and rosemary, but no veg.

9. What are your favorite sweets?
All of them. :D I have sweet teeth.

10. Do you collect anything?
Dust, mostly. Yarn, definately.

11. Do you have any allergies?
A certain antibiotic, contrast iodine, and fabric softener fragrance.

12. Do you have any pets?
Lucky, who is currently playing outside and eating snow. Fry spent a few hours with him this morning, giving him antibiotic pills for a horrible cough of his. He'll be fine, just has a cold.

Claude, who is not happy Lucky is featured more on this blog than he is.

It's Alive!

Dang! I seriously need to blog more. It's so cold out, I tend to want to hibernate. Not that there's any laying around, ok, some.

In the past week plus, there's been roses, yarn, doggie graduations, and Presidential celebrations. Mass quantities of chocolate was eaten, washed down with diet soda. Wonder why all of us are stick thin??? :)

At any rate, here is the week in review...

Lucky has now been through Advanced training for dogs at Petsmart. He's really good at all the commands, as long as the bribes are handy. The big thing is, he kept his graduation cap on for several pictures! We were so proud of him!

We went on the superlong walk this day. All the snow had melted and the streets were great.

Here is evidence I went yarn shopping. Lemon! Our former car is here, parked behind the Studio. My sock yarn came in, and of course I had to go get it. I've already swatched it and am making a tee for Fry.

The Fry was bushed this evening and passed out on the couch, so the boy and I went for a superlong walk. We didn't see Gomez this evening. Gomez is another beagle we stop and say hi to every time.

Presidents' Day passed, and in honor of that, the Kansas City Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution dedicate a wreath to Washington's Statue every Presidents' Day. (Is it t's or ts'? There's more than one president...) The weather was clear, but cold, so we all enjoyed running off to Pierpoint's in Union Station for lunch. We had to use our best manners, cloth napkins and all.

Isn't she sweet? The baby had to stay home today, due to 'not feeling good'. Sore throat, nausea, and sleeping all morning long convinced me. Tomorrow, though, she's out of here. I snuck in a few kisses on that sweet face.

Here's the bottom of Frygirl's cardigan so far. It's at 15 inches and I'll divide for armholes at 16 inches. Yay! I love progress.

Here's a better picture of the brown Rowan Summer Tweed on the hanger instead of me. I know, I'm bragging, but most people don't guess I made it. :D

After some water and homemade chicken noodle soup, Fry felt well enough to play with her pup for a little while. She's already back in the house, relaxing.

Finally, here's the bottom of the Husband's sweater. Poor guy, it only took me two to three years to make him another. The color is so wrong on this, it should be a lot more maroon. It's his favorite and he's already loving the fabric.

The photo below shows the color much better than the one above.

Let's see... Other than great times with friends, fun times with my dog and cat, and cleaning house, it's been business as usual. I walked Lucky the superlong walk today, 2.5 miles, because tomorrow we'll have arctic temperatures. Supposedly. It'll drop back into the twenties. Not bad unless it's windy. Give me a couple-three months, I'll be whining about the heat. ;)

Update and Pictures!

Isn't everyone ready for some Friday fun? It snowed a good three inches, if not more, here on Tuesday, and is still covering the ground. Fry was home on Wednesday, so of course I did nothing significant. Tuesday, I spent most of the afternoon with Mary, admiring her home, having lunch, and adding to the yarn stash, (of course). I had a great time, it was fun being a lady who lunches. All I needed was the wide brimmed hat and tiny dog in my purse. Although how anything more could fit in there, I don't know.

So what was bought? Let me show you!

This is for my own Bacardi cardigan, which may be a pullover. I'd rather have pullovers, and I already have a nice Summer tweed cardigan. I also don't have a picture of it, but Chelle does! At any rate, here's the yarn for the pullover:

Fry is still getting her cardigan to match her crazy socks, here is the yarn bought before Tuesday's outing.

The first picture in Chelle's post shows Kay and her wonderful Dome Hill Yarn. Chelle tells more about the feeding frenzy when Kay brought this lovely stuff to sell. I scored some of my own after it was 'picked over' which is great. I have such a hard time deciding which one to get, I loved the help the other gals provided. Their 'sacrifice' is very appreciated. Black Rose happens to be the Husband's favorite color. How do I know this? He picked the yarn for his next sweater, which is the big ball of burgandy in the background here.

I had fun getting acquainted with Mary's cats. They're all former strays or from the 'home' as my aunt puts it. Even the cranky one sorta liked me at first. I learned something new, that all cats don't like their back scratched. Claude does, loves it, in fact. Behind the ears is ok, but the places on his back he can't reach, when scratched, starts his purr motor in high gear.

This is Claude saying, "I like it when she whispers 'Cat Food!' best."

Poor guy was all worried yesterday. I took all the kitchen rugs into the living room for vacuuming, robbing him of his favorite 'flops'. He wandered around with a worried look on his face before heading upstairs to sleep on our bed. I spent a couple of hours spring cleaning the kitchen and wood floors. After that, I was going to wash the sheets, but didn't want to disturb Claude. He looked so sweet and comfy, I couldn't kick him out of bed.

Speaking of sweet...When Fry came home, she was feeling tired, cranky, and sick. She protested over taking a nap, but I made her go upstairs, get in our bed, and lay there for 15 minutes. If she didn't fall asleep, then she didn't need a nap. She was out before I got my running shoes tied. Both she and Claude were snuggled, sound asleep. So what did I do? Walked the dog!

Poor Lucky! We did the super-long walk for 2.4 miles. The weather was so nice, middle thirties, that we had a decent time. He pulled on me the whole way, which is a big no no. My trapezoids are sore from trying to keep him in line. On our walk, a yellow school bus dropped off some elementary kids who had to love on him and feed Lucky some treats for tricks. Everyone loves the shake. :) After that, we saw Gomez, another beagle in the neighborhood. His owners don't know we stop by on every walk to say 'Hi'. Since some dogs have sensitive tummies, we never feed Gomez treats, but do pet him a little. Lucky goes bananas, wanting to play, while Gomez is quiet and sweet.

Yesterday, Fry came home and asked, "Why is there yarn on the stove?"

Everyone who's ever dyed yarn knows why! I'm in the mood to create some crazy colors of my own. Should be a fun fiasco.

In the knit projects area: Little Goopa's (my baby sister) birthday gift is almost done! Second sleeve and a collar, and I'm done! I'm using Berroco's Love It! I really do love this yarn, it's aptly named. It knits superfast and is nice and squishy. Fry has a hoodie I'm working on, but I'm not liking Red Heart's Strata. It's rougher than the Supersaver, and it's a good thing I love the color. The raspberries and cream colorway, Passion, is what's keeping me going on this.

Here comes the sun!

Like the weather around here, my moods change every few days. Getting sun every chance I could helped, too. Lucky, Fry, and I did a long walk Thursday. Not so sunny, but getting out was good. There's snacks for the Superbowl, and tomorrow is Knit Group. Sounds like a great weekend, huh?

I think the biggest news is, other than I have a lot of great friends, is, Red Crablegs are on sale at Sunfresh for $7.99 a pound. If that isn't a great thing, I don't know what is. :D
